Samu Operation: Atlético Keeps Adding Up
Great news for the red and white fans! Atlético de Madrid continues to benefit from the transfer of Samu Aghehowa to Porto. The Portuguese club has exercised a new purchase option, acquiring an additional 15% of the player’s rights for five million euros.
This means that, as of June 30, 2025, Porto will control 65% of the young striker’s pass. Let’s remember that Atlético invested five million in the summer of 2023 to acquire Samu, subtracting one million amortized by Alavés.
With this new operation, the club has already earned a total of 16 million euros thanks to Samu, adding the initial 15 million and these last five. But the story doesn’t end here. Porto has the possibility of acquiring another 15% of the player’s rights before July 2026 for five million euros more.
If this option materializes, Atlético could earn up to 21 million euros! And it would still retain 20% of Samu’s rights. Undoubtedly, a smart move that demonstrates the club’s vision in the search for talent and the profitability of its operations.
