Atlético Stats: A Journey Beyond Football
Atlético Stats, the project specialized in Atleti data analysis, successfully completed its ‘On Tour’ initiative, accompanying the team to every La Liga stadium.
Adrián Barrios, the project’s mastermind, along with Marco González, Óscar, and Edu, aimed to convey the experience of traveling with Atleti to those who cannot, showing that it goes beyond the sporting result.
The videos summarize the adventure, gastronomy, and culture of each city, capturing the essence of being a Colchoneros fan. The challenge involved a significant financial effort, exceeding 10,000 euros, but the support of sponsors like Alkorex and a crowdfunding campaign were crucial.
The difficulty in obtaining tickets was also an obstacle, sometimes solved thanks to the seniority of members. The ‘On Tour’ videos connected with the fans, showing the journey of any Atlético supporter. The sporting result was sometimes secondary, prioritizing the experience and atmosphere.
Although the team did not have its best year as a visitor, the project proved that the Atlético feeling transcends results. Emotional moments such as the one experienced in Valencia, showing support for a friend affected by the DANA storm, or the connection with rival fans, enriched the experience.
After traveling 17,142 kilometers, 22 train trips, 13 by car, and 7 by plane, Atlético Stats is taking a break, but they promise to return. In the meantime, they will continue to analyze Atleti and remember that the club is much more than football.
