Who could face Atlético in the Copa del Rey round of 16?
Atlético de Madrid is in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey and any rival could be drawn against them in the draw that will take place on Wednesday, January 8 at 13:00. The draw is now pure, but still conditioned.
If Atlético’s ball is drawn among the first four or five, they will face a lower-ranked team. If not, they could face any of the 12 teams from the First Division, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The matches will be played between Tuesday and Thursday of next week (14, 15 and 16) in a January that is the first in which this tournament ‘shares’ with the Champions League.
Among the possible opponents for Atlético are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic, Real Sociedad, Betis, Osasuna, Getafe, Leganés, Celta, Valencia and Rayo from the First Division in the first pot. Or Elche and Almería from the Second Division in the second pot. Ourense from the First Federation in the third pot. And Pontevedra from the Second Federation in the fourth pot.
