Cerezo trusts in Griezmann's future and dreams of the 2030 World Cup at the Metropolitano
The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, expressed optimism about Antoine Griezmann’s future and his permanence at the club.
During the presentation of Vicente del Bosque’s campus, Cerezo reaffirmed the great friendship that binds him to the French striker, describing him as an “Atlético de Madrid man.” He stressed that the final decision on his future lies in Griezmann’s own hands.
Cerezo also spoke about the Copa del Rey, acknowledging the difficulty of the tie against Barcelona after the draw, but expressing confidence in the team’s chances. In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with Julián Álvarez’s performance.
Another key topic was the Metropolitano’s aspiration to host the 2027 Champions League final, for which the club has already submitted the application to UEFA.
With enthusiasm, Cerezo also mentioned the high probability that the Metropolitano will be one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup, although it is still unknown which matches will be played at the stadium.
For his part, the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, also expressed his desire for Griezmann to continue at Atlético, recognizing his importance in the last decade and his identification with the red and white colors. Despite this, he understands that the player has the right to decide his future and whatever happens, he will continue to be an idol for the fans.
