Gyökeres: A Broken Dream for Atleti?
Atlético de Madrid is always attentive to the transfer market, and the name of Viktor Gyökeres, Swedish striker from Sporting de Portugal, had excited the Colchoneros fans. His great performance had attracted attention, but it seems that his future will not be linked to the Metropolitano.
Although Atlético did not make any concrete moves for the player, his possible arrival was always conditioned on a hypothetical departure of Antoine Griezmann, something that ultimately did not happen.
Furthermore, the club considers that it has international-class strikers such as Sorloth and Julián Álvarez, making a large investment unnecessary. Finally, it seems that Andrea Berta, former sporting director of the club, has overtaken everyone for the Scandinavian.
Everything indicates that Gyökeres is close to signing for Arsenal, in an operation that would be around 70 or 80 million euros. The striker would become one of the highest paid players in the English team, with a salary exceeding 8 million euros net per year.
A signing that would undoubtedly reinforce Arsenal in their quest to improve their performance in the Premier League and in European competitions. Although Gyökeres does not wear the red and white jersey, the Atleti fans trust the management of the board and the potential of the current squad to continue achieving success.
