Marcelino and Villarreal, a threat to Atlético's home streak
Atlético de Madrid have shown themselves to be an unbeatable team at their home stadium, the Metropolitano, accumulating a streak of ten games without defeat. However, coach Marcelino and his Villarreal have already shown that they are capable of breaking a similar streak in the past.
It was in the 2014-15 season, when Atlético had 27 games without losing at home, that Villarreal managed a last-minute victory at the Calderón (0-1). Simeone should not be too relaxed, as against Marcelino, the Argentine has a 30% defeat record, one of the worst among the coaches who have faced him. Villarreal and Marcelino are a real threat to Atlético’s home streak.
