Atlético Madrid matches best winning streak in Champions League history
Atlético Madrid has matched its best winning streak in the Champions League, winning five consecutive games. The last time they achieved this was in the 2016-17 season, also under the guidance of Diego Simeone.
On that occasion, they defeated PSV Eindhoven, Rostov, and Bayern Munich in the group stage. Five players repeat the streak: Antoine Griezmann, Yannick Carrasco, Saúl Ñíguez, Kevin Gameiro, and Jan Oblak.
After a poor start to the new Champions League, Atlético has won the remaining five games, defeating Paris Saint-Germain, Sparta Prague, Slovan Bratislava, Bayer Leverkusen, and Salzburg.
