City of Sports: Atleti Looks to the Future!
Atlético de Madrid is moving forward with its ambitious City of Sports, an exciting project that will transform the surroundings of the Metropolitano. With an investment exceeding 350 million euros, this sports city, occupying over 265,000 square meters, promises to be a benchmark in Europe.
The project will feature green areas spanning 380,000 square meters and will house the Atlético de Madrid High Performance Center (CAR). Additionally, it will offer a wide range of leisure and multi-sport options, from surfing and golf to climbing and paddle tennis, establishing itself as a unique space for Atlético fans and the community in general.
The opening is scheduled for 2026. To boost the commercial and leisure area, the club has forged a strategic alliance with José Luis López Fernández, ‘El Turronero,’ through the company Nasas Madrid.
The joint investment in this area amounts to 80 million euros and will be used to build a complex that will include a supermarket, bowling alley, children’s area, cinemas, restaurants, and shops. The project, which prioritizes local commerce and leisure, is in the pre-commercialization phase. The experience of López Real Inversiones, ‘El Turronero’s’ company, will be key to the success of this initiative, which promises to be an engine of economic and social development for the area and another reason for pride for the Atlético fans.
