Large security deployment for the derby at the Metropolitano
The Metropolitano is preparing to host an exciting derby between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, corresponding to the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The Government Delegation in Madrid has arranged a significant security deployment, consisting of approximately 1,500 personnel, to ensure the well-being of the 69,000 fans expected at the stadium.
This deployment, although smaller than the one activated in the first leg at the Bernabéu, ensures comprehensive coverage thanks to the participation of National Police officers, including the Police Intervention Unit, the Special Cavalry Unit, and the Provincial Information Brigade.
Also present will be Civil Guard officers, Madrid Municipal Police, and City Council Mobility agents, as well as members of SAMUR-Civil Protection, the Fire Department, and Red Cross members.
To this large team are added the security guards and assistants of Atlético de Madrid, as well as a reinforcement of security personnel in the Metro service. Authorities recommend that fans arrive at the Metropolitano with enough time to facilitate security checks and enjoy the game with peace of mind. A deployment that reflects the commitment to security and the festive atmosphere in a match of this magnitude.
