The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, has reaffirmed the success of the move to the Metropolitano. In a recent interview, Cerezo highlighted the numerous advantages of the new rojiblanca home, emphasizing its modern infrastructure and the comfort it offers to fans.
According to Cerezo, the Metropolitano has excellent acoustics, although he acknowledges that it does not equal those of the mythical Vicente Calderón. However, he emphasized the improvement in the overall spectator experience, mentioning the logistical ease offered by the stadium, capable of housing a large number of trailers inside.
This, in comparison with other central stadiums, greatly streamlines the organization of events and matches. The club president acknowledged that, initially, there was some reluctance to change on the part of some fans, influenced by nostalgia and tradition.
However, he assured that, over time, the fans have come to appreciate the benefits of the Metropolitano. ‘It has been won and people have recognized it,’ said Cerezo, adding that he currently does not know any fans who miss the Vicente Calderón when attending a match. The memory of the Calderón remains in the hearts of the fans, but the Metropolitano has established itself as a modern and functional home for Atlético de Madrid and its passionate fans.
