Atlético Madrid inaugurates new park with emotional gestures from Gil Marín and Almeida
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and Atlético Madrid’s CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, inaugurated the club’s new park on Monday in the same location as the former Vicente Calderón stadium.
During the ceremony, both men made emotional gestures by placing a piece of turf and an Atlético Madrid flag in an urn that was buried in the center of the pitch. The urn also contained a seat, a stone, a jersey, and a flag from the club, among other items.
