Andrea Berta, the end of an era at Atlético de Madrid?
Atlético de Madrid’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, may be living his last months at the club. The signs of his possible departure have intensified in recent weeks, especially after the restructuring carried out by Gil Marín, which included the incorporation of Óscar Mayo as director general of Business and Operations and Carlos Bucero as director general of Football.
Bucero has headed most of the complicated negotiations regarding salary reductions, renewals and departures, while the major operations have been led by Miguel Ángel Gil Marín himself.
Berta arrived at Atlético in 2013 from Genoa and has held various positions in the club, from international scouting to technical management. In 2017, after Caminero’s departure, he took over as sporting director, but his role has been reduced in recent years. If Berta leaves, Atlético de Madrid will have to find a replacement.
