Barrios, the future of Atlético de Madrid
Pablo Barrios, midfielder for Atlético de Madrid, has had a historic year, debuting with the Spanish national team against Switzerland. At 21 years old, Barrios is the 95th player that Atlético has provided to the Spanish national team and was an Olympic champion with Spain at the Paris Games.
Despite injuries that have kept him out of several games, Barrios has become an indispensable player for Simeone and Atlético. He is also the embodiment of Atlético’s youth academy and the heir to Koke, according to everyone on the red and white team.
Along with Barrios, other Academy players like Giuliano and Riquelme are also on the first team. Barrios will continue to build his career at Atlético and seek regularity in the red and white team to continue being called up by Spain.
