Atleti, a Family: Paiporta Rises with the Red and White Heart
The Peña Atlética Centenario de Paiporta experienced very difficult times after the DANA storm that devastated the town. Its president, Andrés López, highlights the incredible response from Atlético de Madrid, who contacted them from the first moment and offered a significant donation of food and money to help the town and the peña itself to recover.
Three months later, the situation is still complicated, but the peña is fighting to regain normality. Atlético’s visit to Valencia is a special date for them. They will hold a private event at the headquarters to thank all the support received, expecting around 150 people.
They will not go to Mestalla, preferring to stay together at the peña with the people who come from outside. They fondly remember the gesture that the club had when they played against Getafe, receiving them at the Metropolitano and sharing moments with Enrique Cerezo and several players.
Andrés López reflects on what it means to be an Atleti fan: ‘I have realized that I was in the place where I should be. That they have not left me alone when I needed it’. And he adds: ‘You realize that being an Atleti fan is much more than being a football team supporter’. This Saturday, they will watch the match more supported than ever in their renovated headquarters, demonstrating that the Atlético family is unconditional.
