Atlético and Getafe face off in Copa after 9 years
Atlético de Madrid and Getafe will face off in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, after 9 years since their last encounter in this competition. In that occasion, the colchonero team eliminated Getafe in the round of 16, with a 3-0 victory at the Vicente Calderón and a goalless draw at the Coliseum.
Koke Resurrección is the only player who remains from that team, in addition to Diego Simeone. There is also a precedent from the 80s, when Atlético de Madrid faced Getafe Deportivo in the fourth round of the Copa del Rey, with victories in both matches.
