Atlético Madrid aims to host the 2027 Champions League final
Atlético Madrid is awaiting a historic decision in the coming months. The Madrid club has submitted its bid to host the 2027 Champions League final and a decision is expected from UEFA in early May. Atlético’s main rival is Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The last time the rojiblanco stadium hosted a Champions League final was in 2019, when the Metropolitano beat Baku. UEFA officials and representatives of the two finalists, Liverpool and Tottenham, were delighted with the organization of the final at the Metropolitano.
Madrid is the big favorite to host the 2027 final, as the clubs of the big European leagues would prefer it to be played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium. In addition, Madrid is much better located than Baku and offers a tourist attraction and modernity that make it the ideal option.
