Giménez Leads the Fight Against Bullying with the Atlético Foundation
José María Giménez, a mainstay of the Rojiblancos’ defense, has been a key figure in the closing of the fourth season of the Atlético de Madrid Foundation’s ‘Defend Yourself Against Bullying’ project.
In a surprise visit to the Santa Catalina School in Majadahonda, Giménez shared experiences and advice with 5th-grade students, raising awareness about the importance of combating school bullying and cyberbullying.
The player urged the young people to report any cases of bullying, emphasizing the importance of unity and mutual support. “In the end, we are all equal when going to school,” he stressed, encouraging the children to protect each other and value giving love.
The event was attended by the mayor of Majadahonda, María Dolores Moreno, and Adelardo Rodríguez, a Rojiblancos legend and president of the Foundation, who celebrated the initiative and its impact on the community.
The headteacher of the school highlighted the school’s awareness of this issue and the importance of working on it from an early age, highlighting the enthusiasm of the students for the program.
The ‘Defend Yourself Against Bullying’ project uses the values of football as a tool for social change, having visited schools throughout the Community of Madrid. The Atlético de Madrid Foundation plans to expand the program next season, seeking to improve the current situation, as Spain occupies a prominent place in the number of reported cases.
