Cerezo: Optimism and Confidence in the Colchonero Future
President Enrique Cerezo exudes optimism at the inauguration of the Lampazas restaurant, partly owned by former Colchonero Sergi Barjuan, when addressing the current situation of Atlético de Madrid.
Cerezo highlighted the importance of Antoine Griezmann, stating that “everyone is very happy” with his renewal, seeing him as a key player who “has demonstrated it and will continue to demonstrate it.” He emphasized that both the player and the club shared the desire to continue together.
Regarding the transfer market, the president acknowledged that “many players are being mentioned,” including Baena, but trusts the coaching staff’s work to strengthen the team. “There always has to be news,” he stated, showing his confidence in building a team “as good as the one we had, and if not, at least as good as the one we had.” Regarding rumors about the possible departure of Julián Álvarez, Cerezo was blunt: “Julián Álvarez is an Atlético de Madrid player and will be an Atlético de Madrid player.” Finally, regarding the upcoming Club World Cup, Cerezo was cautious but confident, acknowledging that all teams are favorites, but recalling that “we already beat them once” against the European champion, their first rival, expressing his hope to repeat the victory.
