Atlético, a Top Rival According to Pellegrini
Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini praised Atlético de Madrid ahead of their match at the Metropolitano, highlighting the Simeone era as a period of constant success for Los Rojiblancos.
Despite acknowledging a possible dip in the second half of the season, Pellegrini emphasized the difficulty of facing Atlético, especially playing at their stadium. The Betis coach positively assessed his team’s season, highlighting the excellent second half with 34 points earned so far and six still up for grabs.
He underlined the improvement in the individual performance of the players and the team’s solidity, both in attack and defense. Pellegrini acknowledged the budgetary differences between Betis and the clubs that usually qualify for the Champions League, such as Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
However, he highlighted his team’s ambition to reduce that gap on the field. Looking ahead to the match against Atlético, Pellegrini assured that his team will seek victory from the first minute.
In addition, he commented that no strange experiments will be made in the line-up, prioritizing the preparation for the Conference League final. Finally, the Chilean coach described Betis’ season as a great season, similar to those made in his time at the club, highlighting the early qualification for the Europa League as an important achievement.
