Atletico Madrid says goodbye to Andrea Berta and welcomes Carlos Bucero
On January 5, it was officially announced that Andrea Berta was leaving Atletico Madrid after 12 years at the club. Berta arrived in 2013 and held various positions in the sports management, including sports director since 2017.
During his time at the club, Berta made 52 signings and 43 sales. His departure comes just a year after the last club reorganization, which included the arrival of Oscar Mayo as general manager of income and operations and Carlos Bucero as general manager of football.
Bucero has been responsible for several important signings and departures in the club in recent months, and his work has been confirmed by the good performance of the team, which has equaled the club’s historical record of consecutive victories (13) and went as leader of the Liga in Christmas.
The relationship between Berta and Bucero deteriorated as the days went by, and between them there were differences of criteria and bets. Berta has offers from French football (PSG), Italian (Juve) and English (Chelsea, United…). The future of Atletico Madrid will continue with a man from the house in his position (Ignacio Camacho, the former player, Julio de Marco or Juanan Pérez).
