Madrid Derby: Passion and Respect in the Champions League
Atlético de Madrid is preparing for an exciting clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16. Beyond the intense sporting rivalry, a call is being made for sportsmanship and respect between fans.
A joint campaign, driven by the National Police and with the collaboration of captains Koke Resurrección (Atlético de Madrid) and Luka Modric (Real Madrid), seeks to convey a clear message: we are rivals, not enemies.
Koke Resurrección, captain and symbol of Atlético de Madrid, emphasizes the importance of not confusing passion with violence, a vital message to ensure a festive and safe environment in both matches.
The promotional video, recorded in emblematic places such as the Metropolitano and the Santiago Bernabéu, seeks to raise awareness among fans about the need to enjoy the sporting spectacle with civility.
A full house is expected at the Santiago Bernabéu, with around 4,000 Atlético de Madrid supporters present to support their team. To ensure the safety of all attendees, an unprecedented security deployment will be in place, with more than 1,900 agents from various police forces and emergency services.
The focus will be on the areas surrounding the stadium, especially in key meeting points such as Plaza Castilla. Atlético de Madrid faces this derby with the hope of progressing in the Champions League, with the unconditional support of its fans and under the spirit of sportsmanship.
