Werder Bremen pays tribute to Diego Ribas, a 'Rojiblanco' idol
Werder Bremen has launched a commemorative shirt in honor of Diego Ribas, the talented former Atlético de Madrid player, who left an indelible mark during his time with the German club.
Diego, signed for 6 million euros from Porto, played 132 games for Werder, scoring 54 goals and providing 42 assists, before being transferred to Juventus for 27 million euros.
During his three seasons (2006-2009), Diego became a key figure in the team, leading Werder Bremen to win the League Cup in 2006 and the German Cup in 2009. In addition, Werder reached the UEFA Cup final in 2009, although unfortunately they could not count on Diego, who was suspended, and lost against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The commemorative shirt, designed by ‘Hummel’, is inspired by Diego’s first season at the club, evoking the moments of brilliance, creativity and passion he gave to the fans. The garment bears Diego’s name and the emblematic number 10 on the back.
The club has also launched a matching scarf, cap and hat. Werder Bremen’s official statement highlights Diego’s timeless influence and recalls his spectacular goal from 62.5 meters against Alemannia Aachen in his first season in the Bundesliga.
