Atleti, a leader in technological inclusion in football
Atlético de Madrid, in collaboration with Telefónica and LaLiga, continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and inclusion. A pioneering project implemented at the Metropolitano offers an immersive and accessible football experience for visually impaired fans.
The initiative is based on a combination of audio-descriptive narration of the match and an innovative haptic tablet. This technology allows visually impaired fans to follow the position of the ball in real-time, thanks to a cursor connected to the sphere, with an almost imperceptible delay.
Tactile vibrations complement the experience, notifying key actions such as goals, fouls, and corners, allowing fans to ‘feel’ the excitement of the game. This solution, successfully premiered in the match against Rayo Vallecano, has been a resounding success.
The collaboration between the club and Telefónica, a technology partner since the 2017/18 season, with the support of LaLiga, highlights the ongoing effort towards digitalization and improving the experience for all stadium attendees. Looking ahead to the next season, this technology will be available at all LaLiga matches, with 20 devices available. Great news that will allow many more Atleti fans to enjoy Atleti at the Metropolitano.
