Atlético: Case Against Ultra Archived
Good news for the Red and White fans. The case against an Atlético de Madrid supporter for allegedly insulting a girl wearing a rival player’s jersey has been dismissed. The incident, which took place in September 2023 near the Metropolitano, had sparked outrage.
After a thorough investigation, the judge in charge of the case has determined that there is not enough evidence to prove the defendant’s guilt. The review of security cameras did not show any aggression, threats or hostile attitude by the ultra towards the complainants.
This judicial decision has been celebrated by the defendant’s defense, who from the beginning have maintained his innocence, alleging incorrect identification.
The criminal lawyer Juango Ospina and Beatriz Uriarte defended the presumption of innocence of their client, arguing that the complainant’s testimony could not be corroborated with objective evidence.
Although the complainant identified the defendant in a line-up, the security cameras did not support her version of events. This court ruling puts an end to an unfortunate episode and allows the Atleti fans to focus on supporting the team on the field. Aúpa Atleti!
