Cerezo: 'Everything is conditioned' ahead of the derby and refereeing controversy
The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, spoke about the refereeing controversy and the important derby this weekend. Cerezo stated that ’everything is conditioned’ at this moment and recalled that ‘referees always have controversies’.
Following the formal letter from Real Madrid to the RFEF and CSD, the Atlético leader highlighted that ’the problem is VAR’, although he preferred not to divert attention and focus on the Copa del Rey match against Getafe.
‘Today we have a very important match, we are in the semifinals and that is very important for us,’ he declared. Additionally, Cerezo emphasized the importance of Saturday’s derby, key to maintaining their position in the league.
‘We are one point behind the leader and if we win, we would be two points ahead of Real Madrid,’ he concluded. The Atlético president stressed that the team must stay focused on their goals and not be distracted by controversies.
