Vitolo: From the Metropolitano to the Mountain
Our Vitolo never gives up! Former Atlético de Madrid player, Víctor Machín ‘Vitolo’, has found a new passion after his retirement from professional football: mountain biking.
Despite being forced to hang up his boots prematurely at the age of 33 due to injuries, Vitolo has demonstrated his competitive spirit and excellent physical condition in this new discipline. Let’s fondly remember the stir caused by his signing for Atleti.
That summer of 2017, marked by the FIFA sanction, was a challenge to finalize his arrival, along with that of Diego Costa. Vitolo arrived at the Metropolitano with the promise of being a game-changing winger, as he had shown at Sevilla and for the Spanish national team.
Although his career at our club was not as expected due to injuries, Vitolo always showed commitment and dedication. He played 100 games in the red and white jersey, showing flashes of his quality and adding goals and assists to the team.
After his time at Atleti, he sought opportunities in Las Palmas and Getafe, before retiring permanently. Now, Vitolo faces new challenges on two wheels, participating in demanding competitions such as the Transgrancanaria Bike. From Atleti we send him all our energy and wish him every success in this new stage! You will always be part of the Rojiblanca family.
