Pavlovic: The 'yes' to Milan and the 'no' to Atleti
Atlético de Madrid scouted the market in search of a central defender last summer, eventually incorporating Robin Le Normand and securing the loan of Clément Lenglet. Among the names considered was that of Serbian Strahinja Pavlovic, who finally joined AC Milan for 18 million euros from RB Salzburg.
The defender has recently explained the reasons that led him to opt for the Italian team, thus rejecting the interest of Atlético. In statements to Mozzartsport, Pavlovic stated that he had not held direct conversations with Simeone or anyone from the rojiblanco club.
However, he was aware of the interest through his agent and other sources. The key figure in his decision was Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “I did it for Zlatan, for the greatness of the club, for Serie A, for everything,” Pavlovic declared.
The Serbian central defender revealed that he had held several conversations with Ibrahimovic, who conveyed his admiration for his character and his desire to see him play in Milan. Although the negotiations suffered some setbacks with Salzburg, his arrival at the Rossoneri club was finally completed. A reinforcement that will undoubtedly enhance the already competitive Italian championship.
