Enrique Cerezo, Awarded for his Contribution to Spanish Cinema
Great news for our president! Enrique Cerezo, a key figure at Atlético de Madrid, will receive the Gold Medal from the Academy of Cinema in 2025. This prestigious award recognizes his invaluable contribution to the preservation and improvement of Spanish cinema, thanks to the restoration and recovery of thousands of films.
As the owner of an impressive film archive, considered one of the largest in the world in the hands of one person, Cerezo has dedicated a large part of his life to rescuing cinematic gems.
His work as a restorer has allowed classics such as ‘Carmen’, ‘La caza’, ‘Muerte de un ciclista’ and many others, to shine again at international festivals such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin.
Beyond his role as a collector, Cerezo has also stood out as a producer of emblematic films such as ‘Juana la Loca’, ‘El perro del hortelano’ and ‘La buena estrella’, the latter, in his own words, the one that has given him the most joy.
In addition, his role as president of EGEDA and promoter of the FlixOlé platform underlines his commitment to the promotion and dissemination of Spanish cinema. From Atlético de Madrid, we proudly celebrate this well-deserved recognition for our president, a passionate about cinema who has known how to combine his love for the seventh art with his leadership in our club. Congratulations, Don Enrique!
