Atlético's Academy, a European benchmark in training
Atlético de Madrid’s Academy is consolidating itself as a model to follow in European football. The Rojiblanco club opened its doors to 90 representatives from ECA clubs, breaking attendance records in the Academy Visit program.
The goal: to share the working methodology that drives the young Colchoneros promises. Over two days, Academy professionals, led by its director Emilio Gutiérrez, shared their vision and strategy, addressing key aspects such as football 11 and football 7 methodology, individual training and the integration of women’s football.
LaLiga also participated, offering a global perspective on youth academies in Spain. The event was attended by the U-21 coach Santi Denia, a Rojiblanco legend with experience in the Academy and Olympic gold medalist in Paris.
The first day took place at the Metropolitano, where Óscar Mayo, General Manager of Revenue and Operations, presented Atlético’s vision for the future, highlighting the importance of the Sports City. Attendees also visited the Residence to learn about the educational model and child protection policies.
The visit ended at the Alcalá de Henares Sports Center, where they witnessed training sessions. This meeting reaffirms Atlético de Madrid’s commitment to excellence in the training of young talents and its position as a benchmark in grassroots football at European level. A source of pride for the Rojiblanco fans.
