Trial suspended for ultra attack after Valencia-Atlético match
The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia has agreed to suspend the trial scheduled for this Monday against two men accused of participating in an ultra attack in València in November 2021.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the private prosecution have requested that a search and arrest warrant be issued for one of the defendants, who did not appear in court. The details of a possible agreement have not been disclosed, pending their possible closure in the final oral hearing.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the defendants were part of a group of ten people who beat and kicked the victim, who was wearing a ‘Working Class’ hoodie. According to the public prosecution, the attackers were dressed in symbolism consisting of a swastika and a laurel wreath.
The lawyer for the private prosecution maintains that the attackers could be linked to football-related ultra groups, as the attack took place near Mestalla stadium, after a match between Valencia CF and Atlético de Madrid. The Public Prosecutor’s Office initially requests a prison sentence of five years for each of the defendants for a crime of injury and another against fundamental rights and public freedoms.
