There's still La Liga, Atleti!
At a time when some are writing off Atleti in the fight for La Liga, after the Champions League elimination and the defeat against Barça, it’s time to remember what this team is made of. The recent schedule has been hellish, facing Barça and Madrid twice, in addition to Athletic and an always difficult Getafe.
Few European teams would emerge unscathed from such demands. But I believe. There are ten games left, and Atleti has already overcome the most difficult duels of the second half of the season. The four-point disadvantage (with one more game than Barça) is surmountable.
If the team manages to add most of the remaining 30 points, La Liga is within reach. Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the additional burden of the Champions League, have not proven infallible. Atleti, focused on La Liga, can take advantage of this advantage.
The Copa del Rey seems more complicated, with Barça in the way and, probably, Real Madrid in the final. But if anyone can achieve the feat, it’s Simeone. El Cholo has been the architect of Atleti competing head-to-head with the giants of Spanish football. So, believe, Atléticos, that La Liga is still possible!
