Buy-back options that Barcelona did not execute on Atlético players
Atlético de Madrid has been a supplier of talent for FC Barcelona in recent years, with players such as Luis Suárez, Arda, Villa and Memphis. However, there are cases of buy-back options and purchase options that Barcelona managed over Atlético players and never executed.
The last case was that of Carrasco, who was the subject of a purchase option of 20 million euros that Barcelona did not execute. Previously, in 2019, the signing of Griezmann ended in a soap opera, with a complaint from Atlético to Barcelona for having negotiated with the player when the release clause was not 120 million but 200. Finally, Barcelona ended up paying 15 million for the buy-back options of Giménez, Saúl, Camello and two other youth players as compensation.
