Almeida defends 'salseo' in football
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has defended that ‘a little bit of salseo does not hurt’ in the world of football, as long as they are ‘piques’ that are sporty and gentlemanly.
Almeida has responded this way to questions from journalists about the exchange of statements between the coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone, and the coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, after a Copa del Rey match between Real Madrid and Celta de Vigo.
Almeida has said that, as mayor of Madrid, he is ’enormously’ happy that the city of Madrid has the first and second place in LaLiga and that both teams are also fighting for the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. In addition, he has commented that ‘a little bit of salseo in the world of football does not hurt’, as long as it is within the terms of sportsmanship and there are no insults or disqualifications.
