Simeone: a balanced record at La Rosaleda since his debut
La Rosaleda stadium will forever be linked to Diego Simeone, when the Argentine coach took the field for the red and white team thirteen years ago.
The 0-0 draw that ended that Málaga-Atlético match of the 18th round of the 11-12 season was the beginning of the long road of the coach who has won eight titles with the red and white team and was named best coach of the past decade by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
However, his time at La Rosaleda, which he last visited on February 2018, in his last encounter against Málaga in the first division, did not always bring him joy. Because the stadium of his debut is a field where the Cholo has scored as many draws (three) as victories (three more), in addition to a defeat.
After that first 0-0 came another (in the 12-13 season) before the first victory (13-14, goal by Koke). In the 14-15 season he scored his third draw (2-2, with goals from Samu García and Torres in his own goal and two from Griezmann).
The 15-16 season was the year of his only defeat (Godín’s own goal), before the victories of the 16-17 (0-2, goals from Filipe and Koke) and the 17-18 (0-1, from Lemar). Today he will return to a full Rosaleda, with all 30,000 seats sold to see him back, now against Marbella.
