Lenglet wins Simeone's trust at Atlético de Madrid
Clément Lenglet arrived at Barça in the summer of 2018 from Sevilla for 36 million euros. After some notable early seasons, his performance declined and the azulgrana club began to look for a way out four years later, also for economic reasons.
The Frenchman did not find a team to transfer to and was loaned out to Tottenham and Aston Villa last season. His destination was Atlético de Madrid at the request of Diego Simeone, who trusted the Frenchman.
Lenglet took advantage of Le Normand’s injury to secure a starting spot and has combined good performances with some blunders, such as the one that led to the PSG goal in the Champions League. With the return of the competition after the international break, Lenglet is expected to continue starting against Alavés and in the Champions League against Sparta Prague.
