Atlético raises its voice against referee harassment
Atlético de Madrid has expressed its firm stance against the harassment suffered by referees in Spanish football, denouncing a campaign orchestrated from certain sectors.
The controversy intensified after Real Madrid’s last match, where the referee was the target of threats and the leakage of his personal data, even being harassed at his home. The Rojiblanco club has not remained indifferent to this situation.
Incidents such as Jude Bellingham’s expulsion and the penalty awarded to Real Madrid have fueled the debate about arbitral impartiality. Atlético believes that a limit has been exceeded with the investigation opened to Munuera Montero and the harassment to which he is being subjected.
In a forceful message, the Colchonero club has stated that “the machinery has been running for several weeks and crushes everything in its path”, adding a question mark about who will dare to administer justice knowing that they may be the next target.
