Atlético Madrid debuts new Metropolitano name in official match
Atlético Madrid experienced a small debut in the match they played this Saturday, November 23, against Deportivo Alavés. The colchonero stadium debuted the metallic letters of its new denomination, Riyadh Air Metropolitano, in an official match.
The team’s workers worked tirelessly to install the letters of the new sponsor. The agreement with the Saudi airline represents the club’s largest sponsorship in its history in economic terms, with a payment expected to be between 250 and 300 million euros. The name change of the stadium occurs after the Extremaduran company Cívitas had problems fulfilling payments. The agreement with the Saudis will last for the next nine seasons, until the year 2033.
