Simeone Suspended: Out for League Debut
Bad news for Cholo Simeone and Atlético de Madrid. The Argentinian coach will not be able to lead the team from the bench in the first matchday of LaLiga 25/26 due to a suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.
The yellow card he received in the last match of the season against Girona in Montilivi, for protesting an arbitration decision, will cost him dearly. Despite the match having no qualifying significance, Simeone lived the match with the intensity that characterizes him.
The referee Gil Manzano reflected in the minutes his warning for “making observations to an arbitration decision showing disagreement.” Interestingly, the players of both teams did not see any yellow card.
The RFEF Disciplinary Committee has confirmed the sanction, which means that Simeone will miss Atlético’s league debut in the 25/26 season. Along with him, other LaLiga players have also been sanctioned for the same reason. Undoubtedly, a significant loss for Atleti at the start of the competition.
