Ivan Saponjic: from young promise at Atlético to forgotten at Slovan
Ivan Saponjic arrived at Atlético de Madrid in 2019 as a young promise from Benfica’s reserve team. However, he failed to impress Simeone and only played five games in two seasons, totaling 111 minutes. He then had a brief stint at Cádiz and ended up leaving for Slovan Bratislava on a free transfer.
In his first two seasons at the Slovak club, he failed to impress, scoring just four goals in 15 games in his first campaign and five in 27 matches in the second. Now, at just 27 years old, he is at Slovan, but has not been called up for any games and does not appear in the official photo. How did he get to this point?
