What Rojiblanco pride! We celebrate Barrios’ 100 official matches with Atlético de Madrid, an academy player who has conquered our hearts with his claw, talent and dedication. Those first minutes in Cádiz and Oporto, although with defeats, were a breath of fresh air for the team.
His starting place, after the World Cup, was crowned with a great goal against Arenteiro in the Copa del Rey, also leading the team in his league debut against Elche. Since his emergence from the youth team, Barrios has continued to grow in leaps and bounds.
Cholo Simeone bet on him, and the young man responded handsomely, even scoring in his first game as a starter in the Champions League. Now, with important matches against Barcelona and Real Madrid on his resume, he has become a fundamental pillar of Atlético’s present and future, along with other talents such as Julián Alvarez.
Turning just 22 next June, Barrios is already aiming to follow in the footsteps of legends like Koke and Saúl.
