Almada: A Colchonero Target in Sight?
Thiago Almada is once again strongly linked with Atlético de Madrid. Sources in France claim that the Rojiblancos are closely monitoring the player, whose name has been on the Colchonero’s agenda before.
His possible arrival at the Metropolitano would depend on the departure of Ángel Correa, who is wanted by several teams. Almada, currently at Olympique Lyon, signed with Botafogo in the summer of 2024 after his stint at Atlanta in the MSL.
The player prefers to stay in Europe and would not welcome playing a few weeks with the Brazilian club, which also owns his rights. This situation could facilitate his arrival at a European team, where Atlético de Madrid is an attractive option.
The coaching staff positively values Almada’s qualities, highlighting his dribbling, ability to get past players, and vision. These characteristics would fit perfectly into Diego Simeone’s scheme, thus reinforcing the Rojiblanco attack should Correa finally leave the club.
In addition to Almada, another Olympique Lyon player, Rayan Cherki, has also been linked with Atlético de Madrid. Cherki, a 21-year-old winger, could leave the French club for a fee of over 20 million euros. His future is uncertain, but Atlético’s interest could be a decisive factor.
