Atlético: Simeone's tests for the league farewell
Atlético de Madrid is intensely preparing for its last La Liga match against Girona, a game that will mark the end of the 2024-25 season. In training, Simeone has been trying out different lineups, looking for the ideal eleven to end the campaign with a victory.
During the sessions, Oblak and Barrios did not train with the rest of the team, although Barrios is expected to rejoin soon. El Cholo surprised with two possible starting teams.
The first, with Musso in goal; Marcos Llorente, Le Normand, Giménez and Reinildo in defense; Giuliano, De Paul, Lemar and Galán in midfield; and Julián Alvarez and Sorloth up front. The inclusion of Lemar was one of the great novelties, while Galán occupied an unusual position as left inside midfielder.
The second eleven that Simeone tested was with Musso; Molina, Witsel, Lenglet and Azpilicueta; Riquelme, Koke, Gallagher and Lino; Griezmann and Correa. This lineup included players whose future at the club is uncertain, such as Witsel, Azpilicueta and Riquelme.
Correa’s future is also up in the air. The Rojiblanca fans are eagerly awaiting El Cholo’s final decision and are confident that the team will achieve a good result to end the season in style. The match against Girona is presented as an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the season and give a well-deserved farewell to those players who will leave the club.
