Vitolo retires from football after his time at Atlético Madrid
Víctor Machín, known as Vitolo, has announced his retirement from football. The Spanish international arrived at Atlético Madrid in 2018 as a star, after having won three Europa League titles with Sevilla and becoming a regular with the Spanish national team.
During his time as a rojiblanco, he won a Liga, a Europa League, and a European Super Cup, but only played 101 games, scored seven goals, and provided six assists. After that, he tried his luck on loan at Getafe and Las Palmas, but was unable to turn his career around. Vitolo confessed in a podcast that at Atlético there were more bad years than good due to injuries, and that he is now looking for new challenges after his retirement.
