The Metropolitano, a benchmark in sports investment
The Metropolitano continues to be a model in terms of investment in sports infrastructure. Despite the ambitious renovation planned for La Rosaleda in Málaga with a view to the 2030 World Cup, where the investment will exceed 271 million euros, Atlético de Madrid’s stadium remains a benchmark.
The Málaga project, which seeks to modernize its stadium with a capacity of 45,000 spectators, comes close to the 300 million that the Metropolitano cost.
The ambitious ‘La Rosaleda 2030’ project, involving the Málaga City Council, the Junta de Andalucía and the Provincial Council, includes the demolition of annex structures, the reorganization of the environment and the construction of a bridge-square over the Guadalmedina.
In addition, the athletics stadium will be temporarily conditioned so that Málaga CF can play its matches there during the works. With a total investment of over 271 million euros, the project is divided into several items, including the transformation of the main stadium, improvements to the athletics stadium and the construction of the bridge-square.
The three institutions have committed to assuming the cost equally, with progressive contributions until 2029. The Metropolitano, with its imposing presence and avant-garde design, continues to set the standard for what a modern and functional stadium means.
