The recent match at the Metropolitano between Atlético de Madrid and Real Betis Balompié was marked by a moment of tension and solidarity. The match was interrupted for several minutes in the second half due to a fan needing medical assistance in the stands.
The Atlético fans, from the south end, alerted to the situation and requested the attention of the paramedics. Given the seriousness of the situation, the fans insisted that the game be stopped, some even leaving their seats in protest.
Coach Simeone also joined the request from the sidelines. After almost ten minutes of anguish, the paramedics managed to stabilize the fan, which was announced by megaphone and received with unanimous applause from the entire Metropolitano.
Subsequently, he was transferred to a hospital for evaluation. The match resumed in a rarefied atmosphere and soon after Fornals’ goal arrived. Beyond the sporting result, the situation experienced highlighted the union between the fans and the team, demonstrating that Atlético de Madrid is much more than a club, it is a family.
