The Metropolitano, a Red and White Fortress
Atlético de Madrid has turned the Metropolitano into a true fortress. After playing its 150th La Liga match in the new stadium against Rayo Vallecano, statistics show that Simeone’s team is stronger at home than it was at the Vicente Calderón.
Since its inauguration in 2017, the Metropolitano has been key to the team’s competitiveness, establishing itself as one of the main arguments for fighting for titles. The numbers speak for themselves: of those 150 league matches, Atlético has achieved 107 wins, 31 draws and only 12 losses, with 281 goals for and 107 against.
This translates into an impressive 71.3% win rate. In comparison, the last 150 La Liga matches at the Calderón resulted in 104 wins, 23 draws and 23 losses. The Metropolitano has contributed 17 more points than the Calderón in the same number of matches, thanks to a higher number of draws and a lower number of losses.
Although the Calderón saw more goals scored, the Metropolitano has proven to be more defensively solid, contributing to greater stability and success in the league competition. The atmosphere and the communion with the fans at the Metropolitano encourage the team to continue achieving success and maintaining strength at home, with the goal of achieving great achievements.
