Atlético fine-tunes strategy without Griezmann against Real Sociedad
Atlético de Madrid continues to prepare for their upcoming match against Real Sociedad with a focus on fine-tuning their strategy. In Wednesday’s session, the team welcomed Barrios back, although they were without Julián Alvarez (club permission), Riquelme (overload), and Witsel (indisposition).
In the tactical trial led by Simeone, Griezmann’s absence from the starting eleven stood out, a surprising decision given that Julián Alvarez is suspended for the match. Simeone experimented with a 4-5-1 scheme, repeating Tuesday’s formation.
In defense, Giménez could replace Lenglet, while Barrios would come in for Gallagher in midfield, keeping Koke in the center. The rehearsed eleven consisted of Oblak in goal; Llorente, Giménez, Le Normand and Galán in defense; Giuliano, De Paul, Koke, Barrios and Lino in midfield; and Sorloth as the lone striker.
It was observed that Giuliano moved his position forward at times, allowing De Paul to occupy the right flank, while Lino acted as a left winger, freeing Barrios as a midfielder. With two training sessions ahead, Simeone will be looking for the definitive eleven to face Real Sociedad at the Metropolitano.
