Defensive Renewal: Lenglet or Mouriño?
Atlético de Madrid is preparing for a summer of changes in its central defense. After the departure of players such as Savic, Gabriel Paulista, Hermoso, and Söyüncü, the club is considering reinforcing the backline with new additions.
‘Cuti’ Romero is presented as the star signing, although negotiations with Tottenham are expected to be complicated. Nevertheless, the club is willing to make a financial effort to secure his arrival.
Given Lenglet’s departure, Atlético is seriously considering making an offer to FC Barcelona for the player. His performance has convinced Simeone, making him an important element in the Rojiblanco scheme. However, his high salary at Barcelona could be an obstacle.
Another option the club is managing is that of Mouriño, whose repurchase option for three million euros is gaining strength after his good performance. The arrival of Le Normand has strengthened the Colchoneros’ defense, forming a great duo with Oblak, who aspires to the Zamora trophy.
The Spanish international has proven to be a bastion in the back, offering security and solidity. The possible incorporation of Romero, added to the continuity of Le Normand and the decision on Lenglet or Mouriño, will mark Atlético’s roadmap to shore up their defense for the next season.
