Emotional Farewell in Alcalá: Goodbye to Rojiblancas Legends
This Sunday, the Metropolitano will dress up to pay tribute to four players who have left an indelible mark on the history of Atlético de Madrid. Ainhoa Moraza, Rasheedat Ajibade, Marta Cardona, and Merle Barth will say goodbye to the fans at the Alcalá de Henares Sports Center, after the match against Levante Badalona.
Ainhoa Moraza, who arrived in 2022, has played 92 games defending our colors and won the Copa de la Reina in 2023. Her leadership and commitment made her one of the team’s captains for two seasons. Rasheedat Ajibade, the talented Nigerian forward, joined the club in January 2021.
With 138 games and 40 goals to her name, Ajibade has been instrumental in winning the Spanish Super Cup in 2021 and the Copa de la Reina in 2023. Her determination and goal-scoring ability made her a key player in the team.
Marta Cardona, who joined in July 2022 from Real Madrid, has played 63 games with the Rojiblanca and also won the Copa de la Reina. Now, Cardona is embarking on a new professional path, both on and off the field. German Merle Barth joined the club in June 2022. After overcoming a tough injury, Barth showed her worth and charisma, becoming an important figure in the locker room and becoming one of the team’s captains. This Sunday, let’s give a well-deserved farewell to these Rojiblancas legends!
