Atlético Academy: A Benchmark in Europe

Atlético de Madrid’s Academy is solidifying its position as a European benchmark in the development of young talents. Recently, it hosted the European Club Association (ECA) and representatives from numerous clubs across the continent, who had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the vision, strategy, and working methodology that drives the development of Atlético’s young stars.

This meeting, framed within the ECA’s ‘Academy Visit’ program, sought to promote interaction and knowledge sharing between clubs, thus fostering the growth and evolution of grassroots football.

The event, which brought together a record number of 90 representatives from European clubs, offered a panoramic view of Atlético’s Academy model, highlighting its importance as a fundamental pillar in the club’s structure.

The most relevant figures from the Academy’s various areas, led by its director, Emilio Gutiérrez, shared their expertise through talks and presentations, addressing key topics such as the sporting aspect, analysis, legal matters, methodology (in both 11-a-side and 7-a-side football), and individual training.

LaLiga also participated in the event, offering a global vision of the Spanish youth academy landscape and exposing the collaborative work it carries out with the clubs. Furthermore, the Metropolitano hosted the opening day, where a vision of the club’s future was presented.

Attendees also visited the Academy Residence and the Alcalá de Henares Sports Center. Undoubtedly, a great opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication that characterize the Atlético youth system.
